Summary 0005679: Single ISO should be able to install all desktops and all Kali metapackages
Revision 2019-09-05 14:56 by rhertzog
Description We want to reduce the number of ISO that we provide but still make it easy for users to install the desktop of their choice.

The idea is that the live image runs our recommended desktop but the debian installer would no longer use the live image as a basis, it would start from scratch with debootstrap (like the regular Debian installer really) and tasksel would be tweaked to let the user pick the Kali metapackages too.

The downside is that the installer will always have to download most of the packages to install since they would not be on the ISO.

Beware: tweaks made in live-build-config will not be applied on the installed system, we have to review this and find ways to get them applied...
