Summary0004677: 2018.1 does not support INT33FE driver
Description

Hello,

The latest Kali release does not support the INT33FE driver for Intel Atom z8x and other CPUs, which results in, for example, battery not being recognized at all by the kernel as in my case with my Acer One 10.

This renders this chipset hardly usable for remote purposes as the battery is not detected at all. The device does work from battery but chances are it will not charge under Kali.

Support for INT33FE driver would resolve the battery/sound/shutdown/wireless card not detected issues in these chipsets.

If this is any help, this source claims Ubuntu 17.10 has proper support for at least the battery issue, which has by far the biggest impact of these.

There is also a solution listed for Kali at the bottom here, but I lack the knowledge to actually follow it through:

https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/435598/no-battery-detected-empty-power-supply-and-acpi-directories

Steps To Reproduce

install on any device with INT33FE (intel atom z8x)
acpi does not see the battery at all

It also appears fixed for Debian here:

intel_cht_int33fe is present in lsmod, but fails to assign itself to any device and is not used by anything

Due to the age of the OS (Kali Moto [v1], Kali Safi [v2], Kali Rolling 2016.x/2017.x/2018.1), these legacy versions are no longer supported.
We will be closing this ticket due to inactivity.
