Description

When updating/upgrading using the VMWare image, Kali Linux Vm 64 Bit [Zip], the process gets hung on "Get:368 http://mirrors.ocf.berkeley.edu/kali kali-rolling/main amd64 mimikatz all 2.1.1-20180502-0kali1 [662 kB]."

Updating the sources.list to httpS resolves the issue.

Steps To Reproduce

Download the latest VMWare 64 bit zip image, hash 4c99418c8e1abfe2c924e0a5f5bb9464637ad8b49ff79a92ef7aa7540e302368, and run the apt update && upgrade command.

Additional Information

Editing the sources.list line

deb http://http.kali.org/kali kali-rolling main non-free contrib to deb https://http.kali.org/kali kali-rolling main non-free contrib

resolves the issue.

Due to the age of the OS (Kali Moto [v1], Kali Safi [v2], Kali Rolling 2016.x/2017.x/2018.1), these legacy versions are no longer supported.
