Summary | 0006920: Issues due to DRM failure
Description | After installing Kali 2020.4 on a Samsung T7 SSD for use on an early 2020 Razer Blade Stealth laptop with an Intel Core i7 with NVIDIA GTX 1650ti graphics card, on boot up I get a drm:drm_atomic_helper_wait_for_dependencies ... flip_done timed out error that seems to loop through several times, among others related to drm_atomic_helper. Then I will get a command line login on tty1, while the error continues to scroll through. I can execute commands from here and after another few minutes the graphical login for the GUI comes up and I can log in here open a terminal and execute commands as well but after some time I will come back to a black screen for tty1 and only have the command line. The total boot process just to get to the graphical log in is 10+ minutes. I have tried several solutions I have found from reading various forums but none of them seem to work and in fact seem to make it worse. I have tried updating the /etc/default/grub file to include GRUB_COMMAND_LINE="video=SVIDEO-1:d quiet splash" and variations of that line. I have also tried adding intel_iommu=off and intel_iommu=igfx_off to the /etc/default/grub file. I have downloaded the NVIDIA drivers, blacklisted NOUVEAU drivers, I also tried to remove the xserver-xorg-video-intel drivers but they were not install so I added them just to see what happend. I have also done an update and full-upgrade. By making it worse, it seems that when I do any of these and reboot I get to the graphical login and when I login the actual desktop never loads.
Steps To Reproduce | Reboot, Power-on/off
Additional Information | I tried to install the latest LTS of Ubuntu and had the same issue. I have attached the output of dmesg from Kali but please let me know if there is anything else I need to provide.
