Summary0003975: Metasploit-Framework module docs won't work from msfconsole in standard Kali install from repo.
Description

MSF module documents do not display when using the info -d command in the framework when using a standard install from the Kali repo. The module documents are placed into /usr/share/doc/metasploit-framework/modules/ instead of /usr/share/metasploit-framework/documentation/ where the framework is expecting these files to be. It also looks like some of the files are not being properly decompressed as they as still in .gz format.

Steps To Reproduce
  1. Fire up MSFConsole using a standard install in Kali. (Not the github based Dev-Environment.)
  2. Use a module that is known to have "Knowledge Base" documentation such as post/windows/manage/priv_migrate.
  3. Invoke info -d to generate the html based module documentation. The "Knowlege Base" document is not found by the framework and the html page only shows the default "Overview" document.

If you use the github based dev-environment or copy the "documentation" folder from MSF github and place it into /use/share/metasploit-framework/ the documents display properly.

Additional Information

I submitted an issue to Metasploit first and they recommended reporting it to you as well. Below is the url for the issue on MSF's github page. There are screenshots on this issue submission.

Thanks for the report, we will look into it. Both the file layout and the compression problem can be attributed to the packaging so you did well to report the issue in the Kali bug tracker.

Looks like the symbolic link to "documentation" and correcting the compression has resolved the issue for version 4.14.15. Thank you for the quick response!
