Summary | 0005946: HiDPI flickering and several issues
Description | When using the new Kali xfce DM, a user may face several issues when also using HiDPI, even after following all of the steps mentioned in the Kali docs. Some of the issues are: -Top bar flickering when moving app windows or clicking on top bar -Some icons are not scaled for HiDPI -Some applications top bar remains not scaled "terminal, file manager..etc" -Some other minor issues: cursor has to be manually enlarged, cmd font has to be reset every time, and other similar issues. In general, Gnome DM remains more stable when it comes to HiDPI, which prevents us from using xfce. It is recommended to include HiDPI in the testing area to ensure all bugs are addressed before release.

This is fixed with the new kali-hidpi mode included with kali 2020.3 Some of the points you mention, like the non HiDPI icon are an issue of Xfce, that instead of rendering them with the new resolution just scales them. This has been largely improved over time (for example on whiskermenu) and work is being done to improve it. |
