Summary0006678: Scale of display is inherited to both screens (it's error for retina screens)

I use Macbook Pro 2012 with retina screen. It has 2880x1600 px with @2x density.
I added second screen Dell with resolution 1920x1080 with @1x density.

There is a bug with showing two screen with different density. Both screens will be with 100% or 200% scale.
I can't have Dell screen with 100% scale and Macbook screen with 200% scale.

Steps To Reproduce

Go to settings: Displays ->

  • Display Mode: Join displays
  • Primary display: Built-in Display
  • Settings for Built-in Display:
  • resolution: 2800 x 1800 (16:19)
  • scale: 200%

Switch to settings for Dell display:

  • resolution: 1920 x 1080 (16:9) = CORRECT
  • scale: 200% = THIS IS ERROR

Scale is 200% on both screens. I can switch from 200% to 100%, but it will saved for both screens, not for the choosen display only.

Screens are attached.

To be clear: I would like to use two screen at the same time, and settings of scale for each screen should be different, not the same. Now it's the same, and this is ugly for one screen at the time.

The support for different scaling is experimental right now.

You can enable it by running
gsettings set org.gnome.mutter experimental-features "['scale-monitor-framebuffer']"
