I have this issue for months. The usb adapter was working fine before updating etc. it can be recognizable in lsusb but cannot be recognizable in ifconfig or ip a.

Steps To Reproduce
  1. plug and use the usb adapter
  2. lsusb
  3. ip a or ifconfig
Additional Information

it is not the driver issue since my other tp-link is working and I had this usb adapter working before!

That driver has not been updated for kernels newer than 5.14, unfortunately. I do not know the exact chipset being used, but you may want to look into that, and check the apt repository of kali for packages realtek in the name, and install the one that matches your chipset - do not just install all of them.

That said, there really isn't a whole lot we can do. Realtek devices are notorious for their drivers not being very good, and the company doesn't particularly care about Linux support and are extremely far behind when it comes to kernel support. There isn't anything more for us to do on this report as we do have the Realtek drivers in the repos already, you just need to know your chipset and install the package.
