Summary0008644: Kali Boot image, need info
Description

Hi folks,
as I do not where eles to ask, I am doing this here. Maybe you can enlighten me?
Question:
At boot, there is the splash image of grub, then it goes away and soon after it, the image with the dragon appears and is telling me to give the password for my encrypted
drives. But suddenly the picture has changed and shows a debian piucture. I am searching now for hours, to understand and get the dragon image back.

Where is this configured? On my other computer it is running normal (same version).

I checked everything, but now I am lost.

Thanks for any hints.

Best regards

Hans

Hi all,
found it for myself. It was the file /etc/plymouthd.conf, which somehow was overwritten.

I am not sure, why this happened, it must have happened by an upgrade. The entry changed from "kali" to "emerald" and added some lines more.
For me it looks, as some package had overwritten this file. As I got a working kali on another pc I could compare both.

After editing /etc/plymouthd to the same as on the working computer and updated initramfs, everything is working as normal again.

So this issue can safely be closed.

Thanks to all, who read this.

Best regards

Hans
