Summary	0009468: NetExec version 1.5.0 release
Description	Hi everyone, NetExec v1.5.0 has been released and should be upgraded in Kali as well. I am not sure how to properly check which dependency upgrades are required, but here is what i know from the top of my head: PyNfsClient must be upgraded to v1.0.5. I thought that was automated with the cli that would pick new version tags from github, but it seems like this is not the case. Repo link: https://github.com/Pennyw0rth/NfsClient Impacket must be upgraded to commit 8925c2ce4657a5cecd57c2d0b08acb846d94c236 Certipy must be patched so that the following commit is included: https://github.com/ly4k/Certipy/commit/94c910dc1f3e09c417e1fb9f80defa46be739ca2. This is due to a formatting when using certipy as lib inside of NetExec (module certipy-find), see: https://github.com/ly4k/Certipy/pull/312

Arszilla 2025-12-28 12:07 reporter ~0021191	I've taken a look at the dependencies and overall the following actions must be performed: `python3-masky` needs a version bump (from `0.2.0-0kali4`) - `netexec` requires `>=0.2.1` `python3-pefile` has to be added to `debian/control` (Refer to https://gitlab.com/kalilinux/packages/netexec/-/merge_requests/5) `python-pylnk3` needs a version bump (from `0.4.2-0kali2`) - `netexec` requires `>=0.4.3` `certipy-ad` needs to be specified in `debian/control` (Refer to https://gitlab.com/kalilinux/packages/netexec/-/merge_requests/5) `python3-impacket` requires a Kali fork, as Debian currently maintains the version in Kali and lacks the https://github.com/fortra/impacket/commit/8925c2ce4657a5cecd57c2d0b08acb846d94c236 commit - pushed on November 14. An option is that a patch is applied - either by submitting it to the Debian Team or by forking the package once again and applying it ourselves. `python3-pynfsclient` needs a version bump (from `1.0.2-0kali1`) - `netexec` requires `>=1.0.5`

NeffIsBack 2026-01-22 16:36 reporter ~0021292	Thanks for the update! Unfortunately I missed a more recent change in the MSSQL protocol which added a timeout for the connection. Therefore, the protocol crashes as the timeout arg does not yet exist in the impacket version that is live on Kali. This arg was added in impacket commit 9c2d8b61ee9f13dc93744f36748bd4f49a5e9bd5. Therefore, impacket must be updated to at least this commit because otherwise the MSSQL proto of NetExec is broken, see https://github.com/Pennyw0rth/NetExec/issues/1079 Additionally, the certipy patch that had to be manually applied (https://github.com/ly4k/Certipy/commit/94c910dc1f3e09c417e1fb9f80defa46be739ca2) is missing in the Kali repositories as this commit was not accepted in the linked PR. I guess I should have clarified that this commit had to be applied manually. However, to solve this issue the clean way, I spoke to ly4k and this fix will be accepted and merged soon, so it is then sufficient to just update certipy.
