[Description]
SecretLin is a desktop password manager written in Python (CustomTkinter).
It stores logins (site, user name, password) in a local vault protected by
a master password. It can be used to keep the credentials of an engagement
(accounts, found passwords) in an encrypted file instead of plain-text notes.
- Vault encrypted with AES-256-GCM, key derived with Argon2id
- Master password never stored; any change to the vault file is detected
- Growing delay after wrong master passwords
- Automatic lock after inactivity
- Clipboard cleared 20 seconds after copying a password
- Works fully offline (no network access)
[Dependencies]
python3, python3-tk, python3-cryptography (>= 44), python3-pil,
python3-pil.imagetk, python3-customtkinter, python3-darkdetect
Note: python3-customtkinter (6.0.0) and python3-darkdetect (0.8.0) are not
in Kali/Debian yet. I packaged both from the unmodified PyPI sources; the
.deb files are attached to the v1.0.1 release and I can share the debian/
directories.
[Similar tools]

[How to install]
The source contains a debian/ directory (native package, distribution kali-dev):
wget https://github.com/peterpan1-sudo/SecretLin/archive/refs/tags/v1.0.1.tar.gz
tar xzf v1.0.1.tar.gz
cd SecretLin-1.0.1
dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc -b
sudo apt install ../secretlin_1.0.1_all.deb
The unit tests (pytest) run during the build. lintian --pedantic reports no
errors or warnings.
[How to use]
secretlin
or "SecretLin" in the applications menu (Utility / Security).
On first start, choose a master password; the vault is created in
~/.local/share/GestionnaireMDP/coffre.vault. Then add (Ctrl+N), edit,
search (Ctrl+F) and copy entries from the window. See also: man secretlin
Note: the interface is currently in French only.
