| Summary | 0009904: Cutycapt reports "GLib-GObject-CRITICAL: g_object_unref: assertion G_IS_OBJECT (object) failed when saving images from webpages | ||||
| Description | Hello! I had been using cutycapt on Debian Bookworm (via Raspberry OS) successfully for a long time. On a new Trixie installation (via Raspberry OS) with apt update and apt upgrade ran before installing cutycapt, it no longer reliably saves website pages to images, reporting this error: Cutycapt reports "GLib-GObject-CRITICAL: g_object_unref: assertion G_IS_OBJECT (object) failed when saving images from webpages The result is a PNG file that is blank (white). Here is an example of the command line syntax: cutycapt --url=https://api.fwicloud.com/library/v1/company/5853d7c1-6be5-403c-adeb-c123bebb2e2a/drives/0f23c1b9-d4ad-4a4e-bbf3-a2f044ca14fc/objects/5da8fb36-c643-4f51-8e19-035256d27b30/download --out=test.png Some webpages (like https://www.google.com) work fine, but most other websites report the above error. I am running the latest version of Debian Trixie with the latest apt update and upgrade commands, running on a Raspberry Pi 3. The OS is Raspberry OS. May you assist with troubleshooting this problem? Please let me know how I can assist further. Thank you! | ||||

Guessing you need to talk to dev team of the software instead. Leaving aside that you seems running Debian and this bugtracker is for Kali. |

OK, thanks for letting me know! Looks like this software hasn't been updated for 15+ years, so unlikely the dev team for it would not respond. |

Hi, Could you please provide more information regarding this issue? It would be required:
I believe the most interesting way would be to capture a backtrace if it crashes. The source code you shared is for a Qt application, but the warning comes from GLib/GObject. Try updating browser-rendering stack, but before changing system libraries or rebuilding CutyCapt, I would like to see the exact output from one failing URL, including the command you ran and all the warnings printed before and after g_object_unref. Which Raspberry Pi OS version is installed? |

Prob best to move your conversation to https://github.com/Crystalix007/CutyCapt/issues Or maybe to https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1135071 |

@kali-bugpreport Great ID, Lets see right, since that error could also be due to the uncertified webpage owning an image that shouldn't |

Overall nothing for Kali Bugtracker just shipping software from some one else IMHO. |
