Summary0009501: Sudo terminal commands on GUI Interfaces in programs automatically close
Description

Sudo terminal commands on GUI Interfaces in programs automatically close very quickly.

I use programs line Stacer, and BleachBit, and what is happening is when I use a program like these with GUI interfaces that try to access any sudo terminal commands.

What will happen, is instead of prompting me for my root password, it immediately very quickly closes displaying an error msg about permissions. Other than that, I'm unable to read the msg as it closes very quickly.

I can use the terminal itself as normal with no issues, but any program with a GUI interface that prompts me for the root password for sudo commands will immediately close it.

I'm unable to take a screenshot of this, as its too quick when it happens.

I'm logged in as root when this happens.

Thank you

Been doing a little bit of research into this...

Polkit (policykit‑1) is the system that allows non‑root applications to request elevated privileges in a controlled way.

I think there might have been a change into how elevated privileges are handled with GUI programs.

I forgot to mention that my desktop environment is KDE Plasma.

Please update your system (sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade). The packages polkitd pkexec and friends should be update to version 127+really126-0+kali1. After that the issue should be fixed (you might need to log out and back in, or reboot, not sure).
