Summary0000236: Native install of Kali on Macbook (Macbook Pro) fails.
Description

After the installation process a restart is required and the CD is ejected. Upon start-up, the Macbook does not recognize the filesystem and the user is left with a flashing "?" on the screen.

There are some issues relating to burning Debian/Kali distros on Mac OSX based on Disk Utilities not recognizing the file system, but I think that is unrelated because the CD burned fine, mounted fine, and "installed" fine; it just failed on startup after install.

Steps To Reproduce

1) Download ISO, burn it to CD.
2) Insert CD in Macbook Pro, restart
3) Presented with Kali screen, select install
4) Go through install process to end, and then restart comp
5) "?" "?" "?" "?"

Additional Information

I also noticed some issues booting the live CD on a Mac, but I haven't spent the time to reproduce yet.

Essentially, it was broken too.

You can't just install directly onto a Mac because of its bios. You'll need to have something like rEFIt installed:

Due to the age of the OS (Kali Moto [v1], Kali Safi [v2], Kali Rolling 2016.x), these legacy versions are no longer supported.
We will be closing this ticket due to lack of inactivity.

Please could you see if you are able to replicate this issue with the latest version of Kali Linux - https://www.kali.org/downloads/)?
