Summary0002543: root filesystem when choosing separate /tmp, /var, and /home is too small for growth
Description

When choosing to partition out the different pieces of the filesystem with LVM during install of Kali 2.0, / is created at about 8.2 GB. Immediately after installation and the first full set of patches, the filesystem sits at 95% full. This is too tight to accommodate installation of other software and/or updates to key software such as Metasploit. I recommend that the default filesystem size for / be set higher, say 12 GB or even 16 GB.

Steps To Reproduce
  1. Install Kali 2.0, selecting LVM and separate partitions for /tmp, /var, and /home.
  2. Observe lack of growth space in the root filesystem.

If you have a small disk, don't pick that option then and use the same partition for / and /home.

The separate / and /home are always meant to give fixed fraction to / and the largest part to /home.
