Summary0002637: Install doesn't load wireless firmware
Description

I installed Kali on a ZOTAC ZBOX ID45 (using 64 bit ISO provided on kali.org), it tells me that if I want to use the WiFi card for the installation, I need to load the firmware for the wireless card (using iwlwifi).

However, after installing and rebooting into the newly installed system, I noticed the card works fine (and the firmware has been installed).

It would be great if firmwares were present for the installation since they are installed.

Mati also reported that the installer failed to find iwlwifi-7260-12.ucode and iwlwifi-7260-11.ucode. Yet those files are definitely in the firmware-iwlwifi 0.44kali1... not why arent't they found and used by the installer? That needs to be investigated.

I was wrong, iwlwifi-7260-12.ucode and iwlwifi-7260-11.ucode are not in firmware-iwlwifi 0.44kali1. But they are in a newer version of the firmware package (20151018-2). So Mati's problem was different.

I double checked the ISO images of Kali 2.0 and they have the required files in /firmware/ so if you firmware is found after installation, it should also be found during installation...

So I'm not sure what happened here. Can you tell me which firmware file was missing during installation and which firmware file was successfully used after the end of the installation ? (you can find it in the "dmesg" log)
(you can reboot on the installation ISO and stop before selecting the disk on which to install kali)

Also if you can try the ISO available here: http://archive.kali.org/kali-daily-images/kali-linux-next-amd64.iso and confirm me that the installer successfully finds the required firmware, it would be very helpful.

Thank you !

Closing the ticket since the reporter did not respond to my questions. Feel free to retest with Kali 2016.1 and open a new ticket if the problem is still present.
