Summary0002961: Terminal will not open
Description

The Terminal and Root terminal will not open. I have spent hours trying to find a resolution and was only answered with "need more RAM". I doubt this is the case with 6GBs of RAM and a quad-core i5. Reinstalled multiple times as well to no avail. Any thoughts?

Should mention, the Terminal icon appears on the top toolbar and spins for a few seconds then goes away. No error or anything, just fails to load.

I guess that you have partially upgraded to a version of gnome-terminal which is available in kali-rolling instead of kali 2.0.

Please report the versions of libvte and gnome-terminal that you have installed on your system:
dpkg -l libvte gnome-terminal

Maybe the trminal is not registered. Have you check the shortcut prop?

I'm having the same issue. Tried opening from the shortcut and from the menu to no avail. Same thing with root terminal. When I try opening from the menu however, I don't even get it to appear on the toolbar.

Can you confirm that the problem is fixed with Kali Rolling 2016.1 ?

Kali rolling installation succeed (down @22-Jan-2016.iso).
Terminal open succeed, update command fine.
