Description

i'm running kali from virtualbox and whenever i try to launch terminal, the pointer spins for about 10 seconds and then stops and terminal does not launch. have not had it launch even once.

Steps To Reproduce

tried to launch from favorites and from the applications dropdown.

Please provide me the output of the following commands:
cat /etc/default/locale
locale
locale -a

And also look into the journal (journalctl -r) to see what error message you get after having tried to start a terminal.

The proper fix for you is likely to run "dpkg-reconfigure locales" and to enable the "en-US.UTF-8" locale as the main locale. You can do this on a virtual console (CTRL+ALT+F1) but I'd like to understand why you do not have a correct UTF-8 locale right from the start... What did you select during installation? Please attach the /var/log/installer/syslog file.
