Summary0003314: /etc/network/interfaces missing eth0
Description

ifdown / ifup broken without interface config.

While this is trivial, it may save people 5 mins of time not having to specifically add eth0 to /etc/network/interfaces if they do not use GUI config tools.

Please add 'iface eth0 inet dhcp' to /etc/network/interfaces

Steps To Reproduce

Run ifup or ifdown.

Additional Information

I can fully understand if this behavior was by design.

This is by design, when you install a desktop with network-manager you don't want ifupdown to manage the network interfaces.

If you don't install a desktop, then you get the required entries in that file.
