Description

I needed dh-exec to be installed to install virtualbox-guest-dkms, otherwise I got the error that "dpkg-architecture" was not found.

Can you show some log proving your assertion?

First dpkg-architecture is part of dpkg-dev and not dh-exec. And while dpkg-dev is a common requirement for building packages, it's not AFAIK a requirement to build kernel modules with dkms.
