| Summary | 0004941: Request to add OfficeVer | ||||
| Description | Hey, I'm requesting You (the Kali Linux team) to add an open-source Python script used for forensics. The tool is OfficeVer (version 0.01.3 at the time of writing, but it's being constantly updated). The tool can be used to fingerprint the software used by the target in penetration testing sessions. OfficeVer scans an Office document (does not require to be Microsoft Office) and returns the version, acquired in one of two identification methods. By the information received from OfficeVer you can choose to employ on the target by crafting Office documents with payloads which abuse vulnerabilities, that are not patched on the target Office version.
