Summary0005988: Inclusion of VLC in Kali-2020.1 ?
Description

With the new non-root user policy set to be in the 2020.1 ISO, is it possible to reintroduce VLC media player by default?

Before this was not possible due to VLC disallowing running as root, but now it should be possible similar to how it was in Kali-1.1.0a. The VLC package and its dependencies amount to 98.5 MB total.

What are your thoughts about this? Personally, I prefer VLC to Parole as AFAIK it supports more video/audio formats.

VLC is a qt app which doesn't integrate that well with XFCE. That's why the default Kali installation with XFCE comes with Parole video-player instead, but the KDE version does include VLC, as KDE is qt-based
