Steps To Reproduce

sudo apt upgrade
sudo apt update

This is an unfortunate side effect of installing from the Live image instead of the installer ISO. To work around it, simply "sudo apt purge --autoremove raspi-firmware"

Does this issue also affect the VM image of Kali? I'm having issues with the repos. I can't update or upgrade.

If you are using Windows as a host and use anything besides Windows Defender (such as MalwareBytes Premium (trial etc.)), the AV can block the traffic. I suggest you check your AV settings/client(s).

It appears to be a network issue - and unable to talk to http.kali.org.

Could you check for network access? Can you also confirm that DNS is working?
