Whats the error message when yo try and ping?

I tested here on a fresh install of Windows and WSL, and there is no error message, it just immediately returns you to a prompt.

However, if you sudo apt install --reinstall iputils-ping then ping starts working again.

@Platform2265 can you try running the above command and see if that fixes ping for you?

@g0tmi1k there is no error message. ping 127.0.0.1 outputs absolutely nothing - you are simply back at the prompt. sudo ping 127.0.0.1 works as expected.

@steev yes, re-installing iputils-ping does indeed fix the problem. Thank you.
