Summary | 0008194: Phoneinfoga Tool Out-Dated
Description | The tool named "phoneinfoga" is currently out-of-date - Current version within Kali shows to be 2.4.4-fdd163d. After checking on github (https://github.com/sundowndev/phoneinfoga), I have successfully been able to update the tool to the latest version of 2.10.2-8d7c622.
Steps To Reproduce | Run command: To show the currently-installed version.
Additional Information | Following the instructions for "(UNIX systems only)", found here: curl -sSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sundowndev/phoneinfoga/master/support/scripts/install | bash After installation was complete, I ran the following (again, as su): This allowed me to run the application from any directory, using the newly-installed version. I hope this helps to get this updated version into the Kali repo.
Sorry but, I'm not understanding - phoneinfoga isn't a package in Kali. You could open a request to have us package it, but we do not currently package it so there is nothing to update? |
|
I apologize - I thought phoneinfoga was part of either the kali-tweaks "kali-linux-large" or "kali-linux-everything" metapackage, and/or a part of the OSINT information gathering/tool package. I don't recall ever downloading phoneinfoga manually before, but don't deny that it's possible that I could have. Just as a side note - I checked my VM of Kali Linux (which is on a different machine than my dual booted Win11/Kali Linux (bare metal) installs, and my VM (which I had also enabled the "kali-linux-everything" metapackage), and phoneinfoga is a present tool on my VM. All my searches on the application come back to it being one of the top 10 OSINT Tools to have/use. However, if you cannot find the phoneinfoga application within any of the Kali builds or metapackages - then I'd say don't worry about it. If I did manually install the application, then the update(s) are on me, and if it really is a part of Kali's build or metapackages somewhere, then someone else may/will make a post about this, or possibly the application will just get updated at some point in time. In any case, please feel free to close out this issue/request. |

as the package is not in kali, we are closing the issue. |
