Summary | 0008508: Kbackup missing from appstream or appstream not working in discover.
Description | I am trying to install Kbackup on my laptop so i can backup my laptop before doing major upgrades or changes to the machine and i am unable to install this because when i goto the website and click install on linux it opens discover and i get the below, I resolved it myself by just using sudo apt-get to pull it from the repository, but thought it best to report the appsteam issue.

In Kali, we do not support the appstream installations, and expect users to use apt-get; part of the reason is that these applications will attempt to run updates to the packaging in the background and as kali is meant to be silent on a network, we do not like allowing it to run. This is expected behaviour because we do not support doing installations via discover. |
