The current code-oss version on kali rolling is version 1.82-2 from september 2023. As this is quite outdated the default python plugin for code-oss breaks which therefore disables fundamental functionalities such as syntax highlighting in python. This makes it near impossible to properly develop, or quickly bugfix python tooling, requiring the data hungry vs-code version.

An upgrade to a more recent version would be much appreciated, if possible even with auto detection for new versions.
