| Summary | 0009710: metasploit-framework - does kali use a special version? | ||||
| Description | Dear maintainers, I discovered a little issue, but can not find out, what happens. In this there is a hotkey, here it is F8, which opens a menu. I suppose, you know this. But: There is a difference when running from kali-live, kali native installed and metasploit started in a debian system. The problem is, that i this menu, several settings are missing using debian or kali-live. On a native installed kali this is working. So question: Is there anything special with the installed version versus the version in a kali live system or debian? Do I miss something, maybe a rights problem? I started both as normal user and as root, but same results. Maybe you could point me somewhere, but at the moment I am lost. And yes, I know, "run vnc" is going to be deprecated, but is still working (and please do not drop it!). Thank you for any hints that I will be able to look for the cause of this issue. Best regards Hans | ||||

I did so, as suggested. However, it may be a technical problem, for example, it might be, that on a native installed kali-linux is something installed, which is NOT installed in a livebuild image. Rechecked today again, and in the menu several options are completely missing (like "options" or the whole presetting submenu). And as I said before: The defective menu has a grey background with black fonts, and the working menu has a white background and a smaller font. Thus let m think, there might be some library missing. As I do not know, which libraries are needed, I will have to compare the installed libs between livesystem and installed kali. As vnc is ruby based, I have the suspicion, some ruby package is missing. If one knows more, fell free to give me the information. If not, please wait some days, I will inform you, as soon as I know more. Press thumbs! |

Ok, looks like a bug!
Now press F8, to see the menu.Several entries are missing! These missings are existent on my native installed kali system and I might to remember, they were also existent in prior kali live builds. The question is for now: Is it a bug in kali or did the developers change things? Both I can not prove, in this question I am completely lost. So I suggest: If this is a feature and not a bug, please close this bugreport, then also sorry for the noise. But when it is defintely a bug (what I personally think!), then please be so kind and fix it. Thank you very nuch for your patience with me. Best Hans |
