Summary0009846: Stuck in Grub Rescue, missing grub_memcpy, following Kali Purple update
Description

Using a recent thinkpad with EUFI, while in Kali Purple (only OS on system, no dual boot), completed update via command line which worked fine, so I rebooted.

Reboot failed, with following error-
"error: symbol 'grub_memcpy' not found."
"Grub Rescue>"
Now stuck in Grub Rescue.

Have attempted to install and update grub via live USB, failed.
Have attempted to install latest iso via USB, didn't work.
Have attempted to install previous working iso via USB, didn't work.

  • both attempts at reinstalling from USB went through the whole process normally, however failed again on reboot.
Have attempted fixes listed from previous grub problems, which also haven't worked.
Have attempted fixes via Grub Rescue and Grub commands, haven't worked.

Let me know if you need more info.
