Terminator 0.97-2 is available, as a .deb package, from the U.S. Debian testing (jessie) repositories. Downloading the package from: http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/t/terminator/ , and issuing # dpkg -i terminator_0.97-2_all.deb is successful, without error. The terminator terminal seems to function properly, afterward.

Understanding that this is definitely not the preferred method, this was tested within a Kali 1.0.7 virtual machine, upgraded from 1.0.6.
