Summary | 0001406: toshiba p100-279 not fully booting
Description | I have a toshiba p100-279 laptop which has kali installed and does not fully boot kali. This happens now from air but always booted in the past in all releases since ever since i can remember including 1.0.7 previosly to this. I get a cursor blinking on top left corner on the end of the half boot between gdm3 and init. Either by live cd or installed on disk does same behavior, and if i use live cd on another pc works. All this happens too on a clean install of kali and with brand new burned iso on more than one dvd with sha1sum made ok.
Additional Information | I've always used kali on this laptop and never had any trouble, kali 1.0.7 was installed and working too previously with all updates and perfectly booting. Laptop is working ok on hardware or at least is fooling me good. I included a video file of this on this link And i included on attach 3 files log like kali-linux irc staff suggested. I've spended at least 3 fully days testing all ways i could think to see if it worked with no sucess. I tested too 1.0.6 with no sucess. I just wanna say that i hope i didn't do anything in particular that triggered this if so was by total ignorance and not realizing it. After this i installed debian and is working now perfectly on debian. Feel free to mail me or message on this particular issue or if need any more info on it i will provide any necessary details

Hello, do you still have the problem with the latest 1.1.0a release ? If yes, can you try a daily image based on kernel 3.18.11: (The above link will have the correct kernel in a few hours once the current build will have finished, the timestamp on http://archive.kali.org/kali-daily-images/ should be newer than 20-Apr-2015 06:59). |

Without answer, I can't help. And it's likely fixed in the next major version with then new 4.0 kernel. |
|
The user contacted me over IRC to inform me that the issue is indeed fixed with the new kernel in 1.1.0a. |

I rarely enter on kali bugs so just saw rhertzog msg now. I burned the new kali 1.1.0a iso on a dvd and it boots ok. Since i have debian installed on the machine now i didn't tried it natively installed. Since it boots on live cd the issue seems solved. I'm happy i can use kali again on the laptop. Thanks |
