Summary0002023: Add Exploit Pack to repos
Description

Add Exploit Pack 3.3.4 to the repos of Kali.

Hello! This is Juan Sacco from Exploit Pack. I'm adding this ticket because I'm trying to include without luck Exploit Pack into Kali.

As you may know Exploit Pack is a security project with a GPLv3 license, with more than 500k users. I constantly receive the same question from them: Why is this GPLv3 program not included in Kali?
I have already tried myself using tthis submission track Kali and got a negative response.

Knowing that Exploit Pack provides lot of features that are not included in other Kali linux programs ( exploit editor, reverse shell customization, autopwn, etc ) and that the state of the development after 6 years has reached a highly mature state.

A number of commercial and open source tools with similar functionality are already available ( e.g. Core Impact, Metasploit, Immunity Canvas ) and some of those will require an expensive license for more advanced options. You should stick to the one that suits you best. That said, Exploit Pack tries to address some of the common problems associated with penetration testing by using a GPLv3 and a friendly user interface and from a perspective of the day-to-day of a pentester. Quick and dirty.

You don’t have to be an Exploit writer to take advantage of Exploit Pack’s built-in features (such as user and module management, pentests logging and script development, reverse shell and autopwn! ). An Exploit developed using Exploit Pack can be deployed as standalone script, but it will also run seamlessly inside of Exploit Pack.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Thanks for this suggestion, which was already posted twice in our bugtracker in the past. We generally avoid importing and packaging tools which have already existing candidates with similar or superseding functionality already within Kali. This is the case with "Exploit Pack", which is superseded by the open-source version of Metasploit Framework.

I do not see any advantages to having Exploit Pack included, especially considering the time required to package such tools properly under strict Debian standards. We tried looking for any differences between the frameworks on your website, however the only differences we observed were that you claim that "Exploit Pack" is GPL3, and "Free" compared to other frameworks. It also seems that there hasn't been any active development under https://github.com/juansacco/exploitpack/ in the last year. For all these reasons, unless you can demonstrate any benefits for having Exploit Pack included in Kali, we are not likely to package it for our distribution in the near future.
