We will release new ISO 1.1.0a shortly, they will have an updated version of the linux kernel (3.18.6 vs 3.18.3). This might solve your problem. Can you reproduce the lockups with the kernel currently available in kali ? (with "3.18.0-kali3" in their package names) |
If you can provide me an ISO with the updated kernel, I can do that. I was using it live. |

Please try http://archive.kali.org/kali-daily-images/kali-linux-daily-amd64.iso |

It kinda fixes it. It feels like the bug is delayed because it freezes (can't move mouse and can't press any key combination) right after starting X (in the correct resolution). Or it is another bug now. I haven't had a chance to see the console, the bug happened too quickly. I'll try again tomorrow and switch to the console as quickly as I can. |

Both of the pictures I uploaded are what happen with the daily ISO you gave me. The bug is either delayed or it's a new bug. |

I have uploaded a new kernel (version 3.18.11) in kali-proposed-updates. Please try it and let me know if it works better for you (the package name should contain "3.18.0-kali4", like linux-image-3.18.0-kali4-amd64). You should also be able to test it with a new daily ISO as soon as the build that I just triggered is available: IOW if you have a timestamp newer than 20-Apr-2015 06:59 for kali-linux-daily-amd64.iso in http://archive.kali.org/kali-daily-images/ you should be good and can download the image. It should contain the new kernel. |

Nope, still failing, shortly after finishing booting. I'll attach a screenshot. |
What about with Kali 2? Does it work better on this hardware? |
Please try again with Kali Rolling 2016.1. Feel free to open a new ticket if still doesn't work for you. |
