Description

I am trying to start kali-linux-i386-gnome-vm.vmx from one of my VMware products:

  • VMware Workstation 8.0.0 build-471780
  • VMplayer 4.0.0 build
    I receive the following error:
    "The configuration file "..\kali-linux-i386-gnome-vm.vmx" was created by a VMware product that is incompatible with this version of VMware Workstation and cannot be used.
    Cannot open the configuration file C:\Users\estolar\Documents\My Virtual Machines\Kali 1.0\kali-linux-i386-gnome-vm.vmx."
Steps To Reproduce

Just try to start the kali-linux-i386-gnome-vm.vmx on one of the following VMware products:

  • VMware Workstation 8.0.0 build-471780
  • VMplayer 4.0.0 build
Additional Information

VMware Workstation 8 is not the latest version but it is not very old though and it should be able to work in the early versions of VMware and VMplayer

and it will be good if the dev update the vmware ver of kali as there is many update now . just an idea ,

This is not a bug. We used VMware Workstation 9.0 to build our Kali image.
