Summary | 0003071: Armitage - crashes the system once it loads. Started happening after i upgraded to Kali Rolling
Description | Ever since i updated to Kali Rolling, Armitage crashes the system straight after loading. I have kali installed directly on my laptop and im running as root. I initiate postgresql with [ /etc/init.d/postgresql start ] then i start msfconsole. I tried launching armitage from msf and on its own through console or the side bar. Still the issue persists. The only thing that stops my computer from crashing to black screen is when i position my mouse to the top right hand corner of the screen so i can quickly press 'minimize' as soon as armitage opens. Once thats done the computer doesnt crash and armitage is loaded but minimized. As soon as i click on it the computer crashes to black screen. Usually i just get a black screen once the crash occurs but recently i've been getting the error code shown in the image i've included in this report. Crash which include error messages on black screen started happening when i found out i can start up armitage and keep it minimized without crashing the system. Crash occurs when i open Armitage. No matter how long i let it sit in the background minimized. Help will be much appreciated.
Steps To Reproduce | Successfully executing Armitage

I've posted a video of the crash on youtube for reference. On the video i start Armitage on its own right after booting up. What you dont see is the black screen which happens after the video finishes. I have to hold the power button to shut the computer down to get out of it |

Same issue here. Worked fine until recent update. Tried reinstalling msf armitage and postgresl. Recently tried reinstalling kali rolling with updates. Works in kali live (older version without updates). |

Due to the age of the OS (Kali Moto [v1], Kali Safi [v2], Kali Rolling 2016.x), these legacy versions are no longer supported. Please could you see if you are able to replicate this issue with the latest version of Kali Linux - https://www.kali.org/downloads/)? If you are still facing the same problem, feel free to re-open the ticket. If you choose to do this, could you provide more information to the issue you are facing, and also give information about your setup? |
