Summary0003368: Kali doesn't boot in GUI
Description

When Kali is installed and I try to boot for the first time, this happens.

It only letting me type for 0,5 sec and then I need to press ctrl+alt+f1 again. The same for all other tty's. When I finally get into the root user (tty2) I only have a command-line. 'fsck' gives an error, 'gdm3' lets me type, but I'm not able to use commands and when I do 'X' my screen goes black. The only thing left is my cursor.

Even reinstalling Kali or using the light version didn't work.

Steps To Reproduce

Install Kali-Linux and boot.

Additional Information

The things I'm using.
HP Mini 210-4120sd - 10.1" (I upgraded the RAM to 2 GB, it works fine with other operating systems)
kali-linux-2016.1-i386.iso
*Installed from a USB stick.

I forgot to say that the live version works.

After using these commands:

apt-get update

apt-get upgrade -y

apt-get install -f gdm3

and rebooting I get the same black screen as the 'X' screen. It's probably trying to load the gui but it doesn't.

It's doing the same thing with the cursor in recovery mode.

You should try to upgrade fully "apt update && apt full-upgrade" and reboot. If the problem persists, you should provide us logs (output of "journalctl").

Right now you bug report is not really actionable. If you have those supplementary elements, feel free to reopen the bug report. But you should also try to get help on forums.
