Summary0003384: 'nogui' boot flag
Description

Any chance we could get a boot flag - "nogui" -that would have Kali boot to a command line rather than loading up X?

The user should then still be able start Gnome/XFCE by typing 'startx' from the command line.

Steps To Reproduce

1) Boot Kali (live)
2) Press Tab
3) Add a boot flag of 'nogui' and hit Enter
4) Enjoy not waiting for X windows to load, particularly on systems like netbooks.
5) Type 'startx' to load Gnome/XFCE if desired

Additional Information

An olllld post that is related:

'console' could be an acceptible boot flag if 'nogui' is undesireable for some reason.

Due to the age of the OS (Kali Moto [v1], Kali Safi [v2], Kali Rolling 2016.x), these legacy versions are no longer supported.
