Summary0000035: Chromebook occasionally doesn't wake up from screenblank
Description

The chromebook without laptop-mode-tools and the associated udev rules will sometimes not wake up properly, so the backlight will turn on, but you won't be able to use the machine until you power it off and back on.

Steps To Reproduce

Run Kali from either a USB stick or an sdcard. Wait a bit for the screen to turn off. Intermittent problem. Just need to package up the rules and install lmt.

Additional Information

Workaround is to disable blanking at the console via the command "setterm -blank 0 -powersave off" and not enabling a screensaver while in X.

I have this same problem, a fix would really improve the use of Kali on the Chromebook. Another work around is to place the system in tty2 screen (ctrl, alt, ->) The system will not freeze outside of the GUI

I'm working on it, although the going is a bit slow. It's definitely the fbdev driver, as I've tried on other distros, and it always happens on each with fbdev. Using the chromium-os xf86-video-armsoc driver works, but then vt switching doesn't work properly.

Due to the age of the OS (Kali Moto [v1], Kali Safi [v2], Kali Rolling 2016.x), these legacy versions are no longer supported.
