Summary | 0003628: Static IP entered into Interfaces file - no gateway
Description | Seems to be similar to Gnome Bug#771515 Manually entering Static IP address into /etc/network/interfaces file seems to lose default gateway/DNS. You can not even ping out to external websites by domain name.
Steps To Reproduce | Set a Static eth0 IP address in the /etc/network/interfaces file. Reboot or restart network services and try to ping google.com.
Can you share what you have put in /etc/network/interfaces exactly? Also how did you come to the conclusion that you lost "a default gateway/DNS"? What's your definition of "default gateway/DNS"? |
