Summary0003966: vmware tools page should be updated, ineffecient and possibly obsolete
Description

This bug refers only to the Shared Folders feature of VMware Tools.

First, this may be specific only to the LXDE image, fully dist-upgraded.
The shared folders mount script as described in the page seems to have been implemented on boot, so manual mounting is not necessary.

Secondarily,
The commands as described in the VMware Tools page can be improved.
http://docs.kali.org/general-use/install-vmware-tools-kali-guest

I wrote the openSUSE SDB:VMware Tools at the following page which not only improves the mount command but also dives deeper into different command options which are not covered in the Kali VMware Tools page, such as enabling normal User read/write.

https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:VMware_Tools

Either the original author(s) of the Kali VMware Tools page should read my SDB and incorporate improvements, or if you wish I can do it myself (time permitting) but will need to know the process and procedure for submitting modifications to Documents.

The script on the page is only required for GNOME (Working fine with XFCE too!)

Kali is designed to be used as root, not normal users.

If you wish, feel free to rewrite the page/section in markdown and reopen this ticket with the content.
