Steps To Reproduce | I tried to install the system several times and always the same error. i tried to locate these files but I could only find a few of them. | ||||
Attached Files | |||||
I uploaded a zip file of publicly available firmwares of iwlwifi-7265D. You can download it from here: http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=44744209755250893224 or from here: https://ufile.io/m2zc1 These drivers are not created by me. I've also downloaded them from various sources mentioned below. I keep this collection offline. Sources |

Load missing firmwares from removable media? |

@defalt you are not giving good advice. The package firmware-iwlwifi has the required files: You only need one supported firmware file to get the driver working. AFAIK, it should just work with recent images. @cira_ciber01, can you confirm? On an already installed system, just make sure that you have the latest version of firmware-iwlwifi. |
|
The iwlmvm module handles the firmware upload and will look for the highest version supported by the kernel, if not found it will write an error message to the log and look for the next lower number and continue the cycle until it finds firmware or arrives at the lowest version supported. With each kernel upgrade it looks for the highest version of the firmware. On my PC when it starts printing warnings about missing firmwares, i just download the exact firmware from github and copy it in /lib/firmware. That's why i also have firmwares available from iwlwifi-7265D-23.ucode to iwlwifi-7265D-29.ucode in which iwlwifi-7265D-29.ucode is recently released. So before that iwlwifi-7265D-28.ucode was the highest which was not available in the repo at that time. Kali 2017.1 installer does ask for those missing firmwares while installation as mentioned by the reporter. I can confirm this because i often install kali in my testing system. But i think that's not the fault of installer. Once you make dist-upgrade, the missing firmwares messages are stopped printing with the addition of iwlwifi-7265D-29.ucode. |

Fixed as iwlwifi-7265D-29.ucode is available in package firmware-iwlwifi |
