Summary | 0004280: Network Manager not starting nor is it allowing internet access
Description | -Wifi manager not showing up -Unable to connect to the internet on LAN even when I have an IP address -Network Manager is not Restarting or Starting can not tell because the only thing I have is a Proxy connection. -ifconfig is not taking down wlan0 and bring it back up, it just remains active with no ESSID. -iwconfig indicates there is a wlan0 but no card details for it. -ifconfig indicates all other connection devices are available I have tried to check dhclient but I am not getting nothing either. I believe this is a software issue since I have switched out my other hard drive on my labtop to my windows hard drive and I get connection on there but not with Kali. I have also went into recovery and still I have not found a solution.
Steps To Reproduce | Unsure how to reproduce because it was working before now it isn't. I booted my Kali login and no wifi manager or able to connect to internet over LAN (direct connection)
I too was experiencing this same problem. I tried running a: "service networking restart" (I still was unable to reach google.com) I also tried: "service network-manager restart" (I still was unable to reach google.com) I then installed anonym8 and started it up with command "anonym8 start" "apt upgrade -y" The problem seemed to be resolved after updating Kali because after I turned off anonym8 (anonym8 stop) I was still able to surf the internet. But after a reboot of the computer the problem persists.. I now again cannot connect to google or any other online domain. |
|
As a note this issue is also happening on my desktop as well. I don't know why, I can't even connect to direct LAN through the internet. |

@ezekiel1986 Where is the output of rfkill list all? |
|
Just close this, I have decided to wipe my hard drive and install a fresh updated copy of Kali. If it happens again I'll report it then. I only did this because it may come down to that anyways. So I rather do it now then later. Thanks for the help though. |
