Summary | 0004311: killer N1535 Wireless AC Qualcomm atheros QCA6174 802.11ac
Description | i got a killer N1535 Wireless AC Qualcomm atheros QCA6174 802.11ac on my laptop and when i set it to scan wifi it doesnt detect anything
Attached Files | |||||
This chipset has firmware crashes and never work well, even during normal operations. Atheros/Qualcomm is aware of it AFAIK. Linux wireless seems to have given up on that specific chipset due to those issues. My 2 cents, toss it in the trash. It's that bad. |
Forgot to mention, the issue you opened has been known for a while. It just doesn't give anything in monitor mode. |
aireplay-ng -9 wlan0mon |
are there any drivers that i can download ? i get into monitor mode i just dont get any results for scanning though , @Mister_X so is this a kali problem or is it the wireless? |
There is only one driver available (with the exception of sometimes having the vendor driver and an open source driver). So, to answer your question, no, there isn't another driver. It's not just Kali, it's any Linux. Firmware is the binary blob provided by Qualcomm/Atheros that runs on the wireless card. The driver has to load it, then it can interact with the hardware. |
so the problem is both the software and the hardware in this case |
Software as in driver, yes. And since the firmmware is closed source, so the linux-wireless developers are powerless at fixing those issues. Aircrack-ng is not to blame either, you would get the exact same result with other tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump. |
will i have my problme solved instead of dual booting having a Virtual Machine ? |
It's not a forum, it's a bug tracker and the issue can be closed. If you want to discuss this further, the forum is a better place, we've been using it way more than just a bug tracker, so this is the last thing I'll say. No. If you take the time to research, you'll see that virtual machine can only use USB cards. |
