Summary0004561: MOUSE/KEYBOARD, Hardware or external fails on reboot in persistence
Description

I wasn’t having this problem earlier in the week but all of the sudden kali Linux is failing to recognize my 2015 MacBook Pro trackpad, keyboard, or any external mouse/keyboard while clicking on persistence. They obviously both work because I can navigate to it while booting but upon loading it fails. The only thing that functions is the power button. a fresh install does not work I’m not doing it again.

Steps To Reproduce

Install kali Linux USB flash persistence MacBook Pro early 2015 and after using an external keyboard/mouse, even after unplugging before reboot, neither the Mac hardware or any external USB or Bluetooth devices can connect

Additional Information

Please contact me ASAP. This was not happening before but is a “persistent” issue now. I will be doing the OSCP soon and this is unreal. I’ve tried some stuff but have reloaded this so many times that I can’t beat trying it one more time. I’m able to access the persistence partition in Live or any other boot with no hardware problems.

Please help

Unfortunately your bug report is not useful or actionable, nor is it described in a way which makes sense to us, specifically your sentence regarding "clicking on persistence". We're also not sure how your OSCP has anything to do with this bug report as PWK students are given a VM to use for class.

It is actionable and useful; my OS is not working as expected. Let me know what other information I can provide you.

My mouse and keyboard are not working after using an external keyboard and mouse after rebooting into persistence.

I am able to use the hardware trackpad and keyboard or external peripherals in any other mode except for persistence on the boot menu; however, once booted into persistence, neither the hardware trackpad nor the keyboard function properly and I'm unable to use any peripherals to navigate or execute any commands.

I have installed persistence like this:

mkdir -p /mnt/KALI
mount /dev/sdc3 /mnt/KALI
echo "/ union" > /mnt/KALI/persistence.conf
umount /mnt/KALI

I'm pretty sure the problem only occurs after using an external mouse and keyboard; however it doesn't matter if I reboot with them plugged in or not.

Please advise on how to continue to resolve this problem, as this breaks the OS, not to tell me my problem is "irrelevant"

With no additional information, as outlined in https://docs.kali.org/community/submitting-issues-kali-bug-tracker, we have no useful advice for you, sorry. You might want to try the Kali forums, or the IRC channel.
