Summary | 0004592: Mouse and keyboard no longer responds after apt-get upgrade
Description | Per the title, I ran apt get update and apt get upgrade with Kali installed on my USB and persistence set up, waited hours and its finally done. System remains fine until a restart is done. After a restart, the mouse and keyboard no longer responds. They do light up but does not respond to any input. This is the second time it's happened. I reinstalled Kali on USB after the first time as there was nothing i could do to regain control. First timer here so, if its the wrong category or not a bug kindly let me know or make the necessary changes. Thank you.

I had the same problem and solve it with the following capture. |

Hi creadpag, I see that you are using a laptop based on the battery icon above. I however am using a desktop to run Kali on my USB. I have forgot to include that its the USB mouse and keyboard that is not responding, not the inbuilt on a laptop. If it does work for desktops too, could you tell me how to get to the settings? My mouse and keyboard does not respond to any input and so I basically cannot do anything... Also I did not see any difference between the 2 screenshots you attached. Thank you. |

I have KALI LINUX on my laptop and my desktop machine and the USB drivers work even though I had problems with the mouse and I modified |

This also happens to me on a mid-2012 MacBook Pro running Kali with persistence from a USB. Note: Kali Live works fine, and keyboard and mouse input (even with external keyboards and mice) breaks after full apt-get upgrade in persistence. |

Due to the age of the OS (Kali Moto [v1], Kali Safi [v2], Kali Rolling 2016.x/2017.x/2018.1), these legacy versions are no longer supported. Please could you see if you are able to replicate this issue with the latest version of Kali Linux - https://www.kali.org/downloads/)? If you are still facing the same problem, feel free to re-open the ticket. If you choose to do this, could you provide more information to the issue you are facing, and also give information about your setup? |
