Summary | 0004613: NTPSEC
Description | Instead of using normal NTP and having to build from source ntpsec from Gitlab, please include it either as part of base installation or as a package that pulls directly from their Gitlab (or their Gitlab to your repository similar to what you do for Debian packages). Link to their project is here: https://gitlab.com/NTPsec/ntpsec They do have a mirror setup in Github: https://github.com/ntpsec/ntpsec Gitlab appears to be updated more frequently than the mirror on Github (but not much more frequently). Justification is to considerably improve security and remove the tons of obsolete code that NTP proper has.
Steps To Reproduce | Follow the build steps above to build NTPSEC and run applicable tools on Kali and compare results to NTP proper. Change log and list of differences is officially provided by the project to prevent this step.
Additional Information | This is for those who use NTP on Kali. As this is a security focused distro, having a secured version of NTP easily available would increase overall security of the OS and become more widely adopted.
