Summary0005071: Monitor mode not working for Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377 Wireless Adapter
Description

Monitor mode not working for Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377 Wireless Adapter in Kali Linux 2018.4 but it worked in 2018.3 and previous versions of Kali Linux. But this version of Kali Linux (2018.4) has some bugs in the monitor mode or in the promiscuous mode. I think that the bug will be fixed in the future versions.

It seems that the bug is directly in the Linux kernel firmware images.

Monitor mode doesnt work on QCA9377 since this firmware update:

The reason why it works on Kali Linux 2018.1 (and also on 2018.2 and 2018.3) is that Kali Linux had firmware-nonfree 20170823-1 in repository until 2018-08-18, when the package was updated to version 20180518-1, which already contains the updated but bugged QCA9337 firmware as I mentioned above.
