Summary | 0005201: after dist-upgrade'ing to 2019.1 "John" is broken
Description | Hello, First time submitting so apologies if I have the wrong category. Same thing happened on both a machine at my home as well as a machine at work. Both were running a 2018 version of Kali (I think both were .4 but not certain, at least one was, the other might have been .2 or .3) - after running a dist-upgrade john gives the following error: "fopen: $JOHN/rules/best64.rule: No such file or directory" Same error will happen no matter how you invoke john, e.g.: root@kalberto:~# john --list=formats fopen: $JOHN/rules/best64.rule: No such file or directory This happened on my home system first, so I then verified it on another system at work. I verified john worked, then ran the apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade and then john starting throwing this error, same as with my home system.
Steps To Reproduce | apt-get update apt-get dist-upgrade root@kalberto:~# john --list=formats fopen: $JOHN/rules/best64.rule: No such file or directory
