Summary | 0005279: File type for text files are showing "Python File (no console) (text/plain)" in GNOME GUI. | ||||
Description | When we right click any text file (eg:-imp.txt) icon and click on the properties, the file type is showing "Python File (no console) (text/plain)" instead of "plain text document(text/plain)". All text files in the system have this problem. After editing this text file, some icons in the desktop is disappearing. Also there is login loop problem in other ttys. Whether my computer is hacked or infected with any malware, rootkits. My Desktop running same OS version and with same updates do not have this problem. I uninstalled gnome and reinstalled it but the problem is there. I have also upgraded the OS. Steps To Reproduce | 1) Login to system 2) Right click on any text file in the desktop 3) Click on properties 4) The nautilus shows the file type "Python File (no console) (text/plain)" instead of "plain text document(text/plain)". 5) After editing this text file, some icons in the desktop is missing. Due to the age of the OS (Kali Moto [v1], Kali Safi [v2], Kali Rolling <= 2018.4), these legacy versions are no longer supported. Please could you see if you are able to replicate this issue with the latest version of Kali Linux - https://www.kali.org/downloads/)? If you are still facing the same problem, feel free to re-open the ticket. If you choose to do this, could you provide more information to the issue you are facing, and also give information about your setup? |
