Summary0000529: Unable to boot Kali Linux on laptop
Description

Downloaded Kali 1.0.4 x86 iso, SHA1 checksum ok, created bootable USB using Unetbootin in Windows XP.

Tried to boot on laptop (Pentium II 1500 MHz), selection menu shows up but none of their options boots something usable. Instead, after the first boot lines, everything starts scrolling so fast that nothing is readable.

Said laptop could run Backtrack 5 R3 without issues from USB and has it installed in selectable dual boot with Windows 7.

Memtest 86 v4.00 gave no errors.

Downloaded Kali 1.0.3 x86 iso (SHA1 checksum ok) and did the same as above, created a bootable USB using Unetbootin on Windows XP.

Also verified both iso archives (1.0.3 and 1.0.4) with 7-Zip and they gave no errors or corrupt files.

Tried to boot on the same laptop, but it gives the same odd result.

Steps To Reproduce

Create bootable USB with Unetbootin of either Kali 1.0.3 or 1.0.4 and boot it from laptop.

Select any of the bootable options available. Just wait.

After the first lines, everything starts to scroll so fast that you can no longer read the lines and it continues endlessly, so that you have to reboot by pressing Ctrl Alt Canc to get out of there.
